This time of year many childhood traditions come rushing back into our hearts. It might be the smell of the turkey as it’s served or the ornaments we unwrap as we put up our Christmas decorations. Without fail, something will spark memories of what makes the holidays special. For the lucky ones, these recollections will involve special moments involving the church.

Our families must create distinct, positive traditions around our Catholic faith which continually call back our loved ones to the beauty of what we believe. Maybe it’s a new prayer of Thanksgiving, a special Advent wreath or simply attending mass together which refocuses everyone on the true meaning of this time of year.

No matter what they are, let’s allow our traditions to transform the hearts of those who experience not only our love, but the unconditional love of Jesus Christ during this holiday season because we share this special time centered on him.
